In 2003, a mountain home was destroyed by a blizzard which brought
seven feet of snow to the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Wanting to
ensure as much as possible that his home would not be damaged
by natural disasters, including wildfire, the owner decided to use his
metal fabricating expertise to build his house.
His vision was to create a basic concrete and metal structure. The
other members of his family, however, wanted a bit more warmth for
their new living environment. Monica Durante Interiors worked with the
owner to transform the massive space into a fabulous home; one
made of concrete and metal, but with inviting warmth and incredible
style. This one of a kind redesign gained the attention of HGTV, which
filmed the project in July of 2007 for a new series, "Extreme
Living".
The segment aired in July 2008.
