Monica Durante has been designing unique and creative home interiors in New York, Colorado and California since 1999. Monica’s work has been showcased in area show homes, in design publications including Mountain Living, Elevated Living, Boulder County Home & Garden and in the Denver Post, and was featured on HGTV’s Extreme Homes. And she has won numerous Houzz awards for her design and customer service throughout the years.

Personal Life

I was raised in a very artistic family in Western New York where my parents were a huge influence in my development of creativity and style. My parents did all their own home improvements, and as their little helper I learned to love the smell of saw dust from an early age.  Both mom and dad were always redecorating our homes in the latest trends, and weekend road trips to Toronto’s design district were all too common. Throughout my childhood our family home was transformed from mid-century modern of the 60s with tangerine daisies on chocolate vinyl wallpaper in our kitchen, to smoky glass tiled walls and faux fur furniture in our living room in the 70s and evolved to mauve and white in the 80s.  

In my early teens our family would travel to visit relatives in Germany where we toured castles and I fell in love with old-world architecture. In my 30s and 40s I traveled through Italy, France and Spain and absolutely loved the culture, food, designs and style – my inspiration for authentic design, of which I still refer to today.  

In 1996 I relocated to Evergreen, Colorado with my two sons, Tyler and Ian, and my dogs where I enjoy the outdoors, the healthy lifestyle and the beauty that front-range Denver and the Rocky Mountains offer.

Interior Design

Monica has decorated interiors throughout the U.S., including projects in New York, Denver, Breckenridge, Frisco, Colorado Springs, Long Beach, CA, Newport Beach, CA and Laguna Beach, CA.  She recently completed two larger historical restorations in Georgetown, CO and Long Beach, CA.  Monica’s brother, Steven Ritenis (Ritenis Woodworks) is a master woodworker and is the craftsman of her custom-designed furniture and cabinetry pieces. Monica’s two sons joined her team in 2011 and are now an integral part of her business, executing many of the skills required to complete her remodeling projects.
